Well, it was...but not anymore...
I know you guys have been having "fun" in the steam room, but please keep all your "issues" confined to the steam room.
Several members have some questionable signatures that do display in the public forums. I've been asked by 3 kids (I was at a net cafe this morning), what a "carpet muncher" was. The really fun part was explaining to the manager that I wasn't at a porn site.
Can something be done about this? Can we return WD to a tech site?

As I understand it Mods can't change 'em all they can do is block future messages?
If you have a problem with a particular sig line try a pm first, most members are quite reasonable(! :rolleyes: :D )....
If that fails then I'm sure a mod would help you out, admin can delete any persistant offenders...
I totally hear what yer sayin KoWind and totally agree as well. I just replied to a topic in that Steam Room that hopefully some people will listen to. I don't expect them too (I mean when was the last time you ever knew of someone to take ol' Webby's advice :D ), but you never know. :rolleyes:

(you may have noticed Tazdrummer's new name and avatar, NooNoo's addition to her sig, or even Fierce's and DocPC's sig). The pariculars that your talking about are from a large heated debate that we won't go into details with and are trying to keep confined to where it occured.
Try a PM, if that does not work and you find it really offensive, bring it to the attention of the mods, they will usualy cover the issue with said member, if not, then Scott would be able to correct the issue.

Well if nobody else will explain the situation for those in the dark, I will.
In summary:
Lycia and Sheriff Q had a fight in the Steam Room (several others were involved, but that's all that is really important for this issue).
As part of that fight, Sheriff Q said some stuff to Lycia that she is unable to sit down and accept. Her big issue seems to be that these words came from a Mod, as opposed to a generic member of WD who she could simply flame back and/or ignore, and she is trying everything she can think of to discredit him until something is done about the situation. One of the things she has decided to do is change her signature to something inflammatory and continue posting outside the Steam Room.
I don't know Lycia that well but from what I do, I don't suspect anything short of either A) an apology from Sheriff Q or B) Direct intervention from a higher power will influence her to change her signature. I could be wrong, God knows I am no authority on the subject of Lycia. :D But a couple of other struggles that are going on are helping to keep this issue fresh and painful, so it seems unlikely that time and distance will calm them both down to the point where they can let things go...

Maybe if you find offense at those comments, you should first have a talk with Q. I think it's pretty damn laughable that he got you to complain about it. Which pretty much proves my point in what a loser Q is.
I think you've simplified things way too much, Wayward Clam. The "issue" between formerly Sheriff Q and Lycia (and others) started when Mustang and formerly Sheriff Q flamed Darren Wilson ("flame" doesn't even begin to describe their behavior, and from a "mod"). It was completely unprovoked and uncalled for. Many, many people spoke out against the "flame", formerly Sheriff Q and his cronies took offense, most people backed off, Lycia didn't, formerly Sheriff Q and his "boys" and "girl" didn't, and the fight continued. Lycia correctly insisted that formerly Sheriff Q apologize, formerly Sheriff Q changed his name to "Q", called her every infantile name that he could think of (it wasn't a very long list), Lycia was back in his face (hence, the sig change) with name calling, and the fight continues to this day.
I am constantly amazed how far and wide Q's sphere of influence reaches. His friends treat him like the forum god he imagines himself to be, and will do anything and everything to support his cause. Whether KoWind7 actually experienced kiddies asking about Lycia's sig or not, probably only KoWind7 and Q know for sure.
