FSB seems to be incorrect

Just a question...

I have a PC-Chips M810LR mobo with an Athlon 1GHz chip, 512 MB PC133. According to Troubleshooter 6.6 and Belarc, the FSB is only 66Mhz. Aside from changing the mobo (can't afford it, and I know it sucks) Anyone have any clue if this is what those programs are supposed to tell me?? And if not, possibly how to change it?? The 810 that I have is supposed to do the 266FSB, and I have the 266MHz chip as well.

Side note: Friend has xp1500+ on Asus board and troubleshooter is reporting 133FSB and he has DDR... <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Your FSB should be 133mhz (which AMD "double pumps" to 266mhz) check for any jumpers or soft menu settings in the bios

Is the CPU speed being correctly reported as 1ghz??

That is exactly what I thought. I checked the softmenu settings (there aren't many) and I set the RAM for 133 and yes, the CPU is seen as a 1GHz. I'm not sure if the programs are reoprting it wrong. Like I said, a friend has the same problem, just not a PC-Chips mobo.so, it must be the way we are actually setting the things up...

try sandra benchmarking utility to determine what your FSB is currently. Sandra should give you all the information you need and then some.

I've set up a couple of these boards for a small business with duron 600's and they've run great. I love the SIS730 chipset. I know PC-CHIPS is bad news normally, but these have been solid.
I think there's a jumper. If I get a chance, I'll look through the manual.

Well, while trying to DL Sandra, I came across another utility called WCPUID... It says 265.68MHz for the system bus, but it could easily be extrapolating that from the chip speed... I can't seem to get Sandra to DL, but I will keep trying.

On a good note, WCPUID says that my integrated video with 64MB shared ram is running AGP 2.0 4x. Although that doesn't do much for the games that I can't find a Glide Wrapper for, it is awesome with the games I can play on it. :D

I would normally say that a program would be reading that directly from the information coded into the chip but, if that were true, I would expect it to say a direct 266mhz as opposed to the decimal you received. A lot of times, in benchmarking programs, you may see like your 1ghz chip defined as 999.97mhz or possibly 1.02ghz. Something in that neighborhood. If it were reading directly from the chip and the motherboard specifications, as does your BIOS, it would read 1ghz as opposed to the decimal. There's a good chance that is reading your correct FSB.
