I have an Alton 571 motherboard with an AMD 300 (66 X 4.5 ). I'm running 2 X 16 MB EDO
RAM. I'm wanting more and better RAM. The
board will support SDRAM. I'd like to make my
purchases last as long as possible. Will a
PC133 X 128 module work with my current processor? I am currently running my processor at 75 X 4.5 but it locks up from time to time. Will the upgrade help?

I/m not sure about the pc133 but I do know that pc 100 works just fine on that board. I had a micron 128meg pc100 stick on it that I am now running on my k7m.
your amd should be ran between 83 - 100 mhz.
if your are going to use 133 mhz dimms you would be better upgrading you're cpu as well, even though the dimm will work at 100mhz you may find your system running slowly.
AMD 300mhz does run on a 66mhz board with a clock mutiplier of 4.5. Since I posted the original question I have put a 128 mb PC 133 SDRAM chip on the board. I still have some tweaking to do but the computer is much faster. I should also add that the memory is compatable with 66, 100 or 133 and I am currently running the FSB at 75.The reason I wanted the better memory is so I can put it on a new faster board when funds allow.Quote:
