Temps?

What are the "normal" temps for a 1.6 Intel and when should you be worried about overheating, I know I have been asking alot of intel questions lately, but this is the first time I have had one in years and frankly I havent kept up

Around 75ºF is condsidered normal:

Looks like the stock intel cooler is NOT doing its job, just surfing the net (in a pretty cool room) it stays at 93

Verify the temperature sensor on your motherboard is accurate. Some mobo's are notorious for having inaccurate thermistors. My P2 mobo has a built in temp sensor, and the odd time when I do a cold boot it tells me that the temp in the case is 44 degrees Celcius (that's 111 deg F) and considering the computer has been sitting with power off in a cold basement, that can't be right. Eventually I turned off the temp warnings because they were annoying.

Turn off your computer and let it sit for a while (long enough that it's cooled off to room temp). Then boot it and go into BIOS right away and have a peek at the current temps. If they're sky high, then don't trust the temp readouts.

Get yourself a CompuNurse or Radio Shack thermometer with the outdoor sensor on the end of a wire if you want to monitor temps accurately.

I am pretty sure that the temps are correct, they are low when first powered on but then after idle for a while they go to 90-95 and then when I start the united devices client they go all the way up to 125 F

Check the seating of the HSF, doesn't sound like it's working right. Did you use a tad of thermal compound? Is the HSF fan running?

sounds like the heat isnt being shifted, either heatsink, the fan or maybe both, hopefully it will be something simple to fix ;)

I definitely think that your heatsink is not seated correctly. Under load and not overclocked you should see temps around 100º-109º max. 125º is really pushing it for that proc. After you have verified that its not a thermistor error or and you have reseated your heatsink, I would assume that it could be a bad proccesor.

Thats a negative also, everyone in my class (we built these machines in hardware class) is having the same temps as me and thats around 10-12 machines. :( Got any recommendations for a 478 HSF that will play nice with the Shuttle AV40? I was thinking the dragon orb
