Working ?

In my device manager,under view by connection
my usb icon has "unknown device" next to it.
Does this mean it will not work,because i want to
buy a usb printer.When i click on the properties tab the writing says Manfacturer:
None specified
Hardware version:not available
device status:this device is working prpperly
Do i have to do something to activate the port?

Have you got it enabled in cmos?
What version of windows are you using?
What motherboard and chipset are you using?
