I know on average with 98 & ME about 3 times a week for best performance how often should 2000 be run. I know MS's answer but thats just like in 95 were it would tell you this disk is 15% fragmented you don't need to run defragmenter.

Actually from what I have heard, you don't really need to defrag 2K that often. I use to do it like every month, but I ended up making it worse. If it is a NTFS drive then itis suppose to handle files better. But if it is a Fat32 drive I would defrag it more often! Of course I could be completely mis-informed! :p
I do mine once a month using Norton SpeedDisk (even with SP2 installed) with no problems on NTFS partitions.
Once every month or three is fine. I usually wait until I remember that I haven't done it in a long time. By then I am usually under %10 fragmented anyway...
