After I installed win2000 on my compaq presario with an ess alegro driver that I downloaded from the ess tech. site. I noticed that when I set the volume level it imediatly moves down until it is muted. I set it again and it does the same thing. The driver seems to be installed correctly but i may be wrong.
compaq presario's have those buttons on the keyboard, it could be chaging the settings. try a basic KB and see what happens. I doubt it would be a driver problem.
you may need an updated keyboard driver for that "special" Compaq keyboard.
I fixed the problem, it was caused by a bad driver that wasn't commpatible with win2000. So if you ever have this problem try using the driver from winME and installing ess maestro driver instead, it worked for my computer mabye it will for yours.
