Windows 2000 product key
hey i lost my windows 2000 cd case, an i was wandering if any of u had one, or if there was a way to get it off my computer.
The local machine/software/micr.../windows/ registry entry does not contain it.
I REALYYYYYYYY need to make a clean instalation

The product key is not stored on your system and requesting a key from someone else here is an illegal activity which is not allowed on these forums. Your best bet is to contact Microsoft for a replacement.

Yes! there is.
Every installation of Windows 2000 has a sticker that must be placed on the side of the case that contains the Product Key.
All you have to do is read it right off of the sticker on the side of your case...
Unless, of course, it is a stolen copy of the software...

This is not entirely true.
Packs in australia didn't come with the sticker.
I have only seen this on IBM, Compaq, HP etc machines.
If its a clone it wont have it.

The serial# isn't in the general tab of the system properties?

Over here in the UK, it is only OEM versions that have the stickers & retail (full & upgrade) versions have the yellow sticker on the back of the jewel case.

That number is not the product key you need to do a Windows install.

I know.
Also if you bought the full version, you may not have placed the sticker on there.
I was just in a bad mood and tired of people asking for CDkeys / hacks.
So I got a little sarcastic.
If you are so desperate for a win2k CDKey that you are asking here, then you don't deserve one.
