Gotta Love it!!
I had a computer come into the shop today and the owner said they thought they had a virus. "After further review", they did have the Magistr.A strain. They were running PC_Cillian and it was up to date, but it didn't catch the virus. I used housecall.antivirus.com (which is made by the same people that make PC-Cillian)to scan the computer and of the 23 infected files, unbelieveably 3 of PC-Cillians files were infected!! I question the effectiveness of that antivirus program.

I have over a hundred computers on one of my networks using pccillin for the 2 years i've been here with no infections. I'd bet the installation was incorrect, or that you saw a variant that had been altered to get around either that program or AV programs in general. I make a habit of submitting the virus when i see something funky like that......

I've also seen where housecall said there was no virus on the machine, but other antivirus programs found infected files. Never submitted these, but used the others to clean the drive.

I bet the system was infected prior to the installation of PC-Cillin
