IP reserving in DHCP
Hi all,
I would like to know how can we reserve an IP for a particular system whem using DHCP. I have seen in some of my clients where we just sold the hardware. Everytime the system boots it gets the same IP while I believe if we use DHCP it may get any IP.Does it relate to the MAC add or Network Card.If Yes ,so how do we instruct a DHCP server to give it (the client PC)the same IP evrytime it (the client PC)boots.
Thanx in advance.
bye
:)

You will have to exclude the particular address from the DHCP scope and enter it as a static address on the workstation.
For example: set your DHCP scope from 192.168.0.11 to 192.168.0.254. This will leave you with 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.10 to use as static addresses.

Yes you can -I am considering NT 4:
There is an Option to add reservatios, you should enter the mac of the Client machine inside the Unique Identifier.
ow to Resolve the MAC?
Simple - PING the Machine and then ARP.
Good Luck
