Cisco 6xx DSL Router, ADSL, PPTP

Hey all,

The DSL router in our Maryland office needs to be replaced because it can not pass PPTP packets through it so their office cannot access our main network. I was told the Flowpointe router can let L2TP through but right now Microsoft's ISA Server does not work too well with L2TP. I want to check to see if there are possible firmware upgrades for the router which may allow PPTP passthrough and I can't get ahold of anyone in the Maryland office to ask them the specific model number.

I was thinking of using a Cisco 600 Series ADSL Router but need to know if I can set it up like a Linksys Cable/DSL router which uses from what Cisco tells me PAT and allow PPTP packets to pass through it. Anyone familiar with these routers? I saw Steve Porter posted some stuff on the 675 back a couple months. I cannot find it on Cisco's site spelled out the the router allows PPTP packets through it.

Update, its the 2200-12 with software 3.0.2

I don't really know anything about what your talking about. But I have a cisco 678 if I can help you in any way.

- is it right, that it doesn't do PAT/NAT?
- have you tried to forward the pptp-ports through it?

Okay, it is a Flowpoint 2210 but I think I have a cheap solution worked out for it. The Flowpoint is not our router, it is owned by the company that provides DSL to our MD office so I do not have any access to the router config. I don't think I am going to need the Cisco router now but if I do a guy I work with is good friends with a CCIE that works for Cisco so I think I am set with any questions I have about Cisco products :) Back to the Flowpoint router, it supports NAT but does not support PPTP passthrough. I hope that the latest version of its OS does, I believe 3.6.1. Oh well, I'll find out if this all works or not around Friday since my company doesn't move fast when I am on vacation. Thanks for the responses, I'll keep "y'all" up to date with what happens.

it describes how to set up a config for PPTP with the 2200 - certainly you'll have to have admin-rights!

damn... just saw that you mentioned a 2210 and not a 2200... didn't found if that should work with it (sorry man)!
