D-Link DES-3225G - How to use all 24 ports?

Was using DES-3224 Switch before, with 24 users using the 24 ports. Switch went bad. Recievend replacement from D-Link with DES-3225G model. I asked them to ensure me all 24 ports were available. they said yes. Went to replace switch, and noticed there were only 22 ports with 2 uplinks, and 2 additional uplinks to gigaswithches. Any body out there have any idease how to use all 24 ports on this switcher. D-Link will not return my calls. If I use ports 1 and 2 (also labelled uplinks), the other ports do not function.

Id rip DLink a new one. THats totally unacceptable. Call for a CSR and keep asking for their managers. That is way out of line. Ill check in to your problem and get back to you once I have an answer.

Thanks for your input ... but I figure it out. D-Link does make good products, their CS leaves much to be desired though. Anyhow .. the problem has been solved! There are 22 labelled ports. Port 1 and 2 have a shared uplink port each (That is why it appears to be 24 ports, but in reality there is only 22 + 2 uplink). However, there are two additional ports labelled Slot I Tx and Slot I Rx. These ports are uplink ports to stack onto a GB switcher, with the addition of a coupler unit. However, these can also be used as ports 23 and 24. Plugged them in and it worked! I hope that D-link will do a better job labelling their switchers, or at least make it apparent in their documentation that this is how you get to use all 24 ports!

Some hubs and switches can not use the uplink ports. Had a Lucent switch that was advertised as 24, but like you only had 22 available. Nothing to do about it. I would keep hounding d-link. Piss poor customer service. Better business bureau???? :mad:

Have you tried to use the uplink-ports with crossover-cables? Cause these will be necessary if you want to connect a PC instead of a switch-uplink...

The thing - using the GigE uplink TX and RX as 2 100M normal ports seem strange to me ... does it *really* work?
