Microsoft trying to get rid of TCP/IP for their own protocol?

but imagine the court cases against them.....

they wouldn't do it, because it would be the start of many court cases against them (antitrust and all)

I doubt that Microsoft's protocol would ain any kinf of official recognition from UNIX users throughout the planet.

Sounds more like propaganda, again, from the copyright holders of FUD :rolleyes:

Microsoft HAD their own protocol, NetBEUI, which they barely even support anymore. They dropped it in favor of TCP/IP. I highly doubt they would be crazy enough to try to introduce a new protocol. And I think Microsoft would start seeing organised resistance to it. After all, AOL, like it or not, is a major player in the Internet world, and considering that I've heard rumors of them creating their own OS, I highly doubt they'd be willing to follow Microsoft any more than they have to.

If M$ makes a protocol that will automatically make someone's machine self destruct when they try to DDoS someone else, I'll support it. :D :D :D

They've gone one step further now then that. Netbeui is GONE from Windows XP. The protocol de-installs itself when upgrade from a previous OS. Its strange why they would do this, then again netbeui does absolutly nothing. Any idiot can setup it up. Ohh, wait a minute. That is the point. Nevermind.

No...shooting them would be too quick and painless....

Only reason why they dont want TCP/IP anymore is kinda in the same boat as USB 2.0, THEY CANT GET THERE SOFTWARE TO WORK RIGHT ON IT. The security and exploits they get they cant stop. So they think they can come out with another standard which will make it 60% more deadly than what tcp/ip is now for Microsoft's Products. This is the same for USB, it failed the first time they showed the public and it still fails, USB is for macs and they cant get usb to work right.

I wonder, the paranoid side of me agrees with every word - marketing people are sneaky!

However, having published that article, if it comes to fruition, that article will be held up in court as a huge "told you so!".

I sincerely hope that Gates and Co remember that diversity allows for growth, whereas monopolies on the whole stagnate.

Or, is Bill Gates a communist? I mean, he seems to want everyone to have exactly the same operating system in every household!
