(At least 7 times faster than a 56k modem)

This is almost unreal. It is weird to click on a link and have it open almost as soon I release the mouse button.

Just wait till you get used to it and have to use someone's dial up.
I really can't handle it. ;)

Worse part is that I think you will be right. When I left work today I was working on a modem problem. and tomorrow I will probly have to download some drivers using that modem.

Kinda like watching TV without a remote
I've had a cable modem for about a year now, high speed is definitely the way to go.

Welcome, deseqer!
I went with ADSL also (Canada), because the cable broadband was imposing limits on downloads per month.
-
My DSL is $49.95 a month but I have dropped the service for a short time until my wife starts working again :( It's funny though because I check my report for my 56k on DSLReports and other speed checks and it shows that it is atleast 3 times as fast as 56k. Instead of downloading at about 3-5kb a second (which is what most people with dialup contend with) I usually download at 12-15kb/s. Why? I don't know but I won't complain.

i'm in central WA and i can't get DSL or Cable. towns 15 miles away have them both, but we don't and they have no plans to get them here. i have been thinking about wireless and i have some questions. what wireless service did you go with? is it two way? what are your download speeds? and if you don't mind me asking, how much is it a month?

I'm looking at Starband. Living here in the armpit of Ohio we ain't got no DSL, Cable or none of dat. Hell, where I live we can't even get regular cable. Anyone have any luck with Starband?

Sorry It took so long to reply. My home computer hard drive disided to fail. Damn you IBM.
I went with WWW.dtnspeed.com , and it is $49.99 a month with the first month free. The ant. operates at the 2.4GHz range so if you have any portable phones at that Hz you may have to replace them. It works on line of sight so if there is a wireless Internet provider in your area you will want to ask them were their ant. is located and go outside a see if you can see the tower. also most of the Wireless ranges are 10 miles and depending were they have their ant. you may not be able to get a signal.
It all depends were that ant. is. there is a internet provider locate to me that has wireless for just $30 month, but their ant. is to low so they could not reach me. if there is any question on wether you cannot get a signal the provider should be willing to come out and check it for you.
