D&D/AD&D...What's Your Alignment?

Now we all know it's just a game, but we all loved and still do (at least, I do :D ). Heck, it was really cool in Baldur's Gate I and II, and coming soon: Neverwinter Nights.

Anyway, if you could classify yourself into the alignments from D&D and/or AD&D, what would you be?

For a refresher here they are:

  Lawful Evil
  Neutral Evil
  Chaotic Evil

Personally, I would fall into Neutral Good, maybe leaning somewhat toward Chaotic Good.

What's your alignment? :p

i believe i would probly fall into the chaotic neutral group.. as ive been know to toe the line from light to dark on occasion..

Never played, but I'd say I'm somewhere in between Neutral/Chaotic Evil.

i never played D&D, but i do play a mud over at stormgate.dyndns.org port 2345. I stay neutral aligned.

I am an Evil Secratary, so Chaotic Evil is me.

Ultra Chaotic Evil, I am like an Anti Paladin, I am so evil Nun's attack me on the street. I do things that even Satan goes, "Man that's F'ed up". I'm still not as Evil as Cobra.

I am one of the most Chaotic Evil persons you are ever likely to see on the road. :D
Otherwise I tend towards Chaotic Neutral/Good.

And I like to kick puppies too!

Chaotic good

You guys, who all want to be evil, do you know what this really means in AD&D? That is, when you give a damn' **** on anything other than your live...
I'd think anybody beeing here in this forum, helping others is strikly non-evil... maybe neutral with tends to evil, but from the AD&D point of view, evil means that you **** on others... take this in review!

Just so we're clear here, Lawful Good would be an honest, upstanding citizen. (Don't know any of those.) Chaotic Good would be a vigilante or an activist. Lawful Evil would be your average lawyer or politician, and Chaotic Evil would be a psycho maniac.

I rank myself as a Chaotic Good but with too-chicken-to-be-Batman tendencies.

I suppose one could make an argument that one has to be Lawful Good to be a moderator at Windrivers, but I suspect the Moderators themselves might object to this label more than anyone else...

What is the definition of Chaotic Good and Lawful Evil? Aren't they kind of oxymorons? I'd select an alignment, but the only ones I understand are Lawful Good and Chaotic Evil. I must be one of the only people on this board that has never played D&D. I would guess Neutral Good, for myself, but I really don't know.

No, they aren't (even if I thought so too in the beginning 15 years ago...)!

You have two statements for the alignment

lawful good

statement (1) means how you interact with respect to law and order... if your word is something worth, or if you only act the way you want and not the way you should do...
So a lawful person is a guy with whom you can make a contract - but you should not betray him (he'll definitly dislike this and probably hunt you)!
statement (2) however means how you interact with respect to life itself... if you're killing people for fun you're definitly evil... if enemies surrender and you kill them though, you may definitly not be good (and other good characters will throw you out of the group or leave the group if they don't feel equivalent in power).

You may mix both alignment free... but some people have very strong restrictions:
- Paladins may only be lawful/good (as they see the order and life as their task in life)
- Druids may only be neutral/neutral (true neutral) as they regard the balance as the only way for life
- Assassins may only be evil (guess why!)

Some others have other limited restrictions but not too many. So you can easily be a thief, stealing all goods you can reach, though beeing a good one - you don't have to be Robin Hood for that, but you may not be lawful in the first alignment...
