Anyone interested in cars.. I got my new toy yesterday

For anyone that is interested..

Yesterday, I picked up a 1985 Nissan Exa Turbo, unregistered, for the purpose of having a project car.

I paid $800 for it (Australian $$..) which was a bit of a bargain, and it is currently stashed in a mates backyard, waiting for me to buy it a new battery, and muffler.

There is a fair bit of work to be done to it, but hopefully, within the next 3 months, I will be able to turn it into something other motorists can be afraid of :D

The fastest one I am aware of, in Australia, runs down the 1/4 mile in under 12 seconds.

My goal, is to make this one run 13's, on a budget, keep it registered to drive to work every day... and it shouldnt be too hard.

Anyone else got a toy car? :D

Yep, thats what it'll look like when its finished.

Im not interested in Ricer wings, stupid wheels (the only reason Im looking at bigger wheels, is to fit bigger brakes under them :D ), or stickers. Just a nice paint job, and one hell of a grunty donk. Something to scare V8's with :D

We manufacture some absolutely awesome cars.

We've were building our own corollas until a few years back, we build some awesome Fords, that wont ever see the light of day over there, HSV, Holden, and Mitsubishi all build locally. The Mitsubishi Magna (built in Adelaide) is exported to the USA, unsure of what they call it over there though.

Some of the crowning jewels, will probably be the HSV's (Holden Special Vehicles) we build here.

In the last 2 years, they have been importing the LS1 chev motors, and tuning them up to insane specifications, until the release of the next series, which will apparently again use an all Aussie build 5.7 - 6.0 Litre V8, or a 3.4L turbo motor.

So the short answer, yes, we do. Check out HSV.com.au , and ford.com.au and have a look at some of the nicer things we build down here.

I looked at the australian Ford website, and was examining the prices for some of the cars. A mustang Cobra, quite possibly the perfect muscle car, costs :eek: 89,000 :eek: How much is that in American greenback? I know now why in the news you only see low end cars in Aussie.

Personally, I think the mustang is a bucket of snot..

It works out to around 40k US.

But in the news you only see low end cars? Seriously, this is one of the few countries in the world, where big, *powerful* rear wheel drive sedans, are the norm, instead of the exception.

Remember too, the mustang is a yank built bucket, while Ford builds super-quick sedans, locally, that whip the pants off it. I dont understand the business sence over it..
