After reading the simpsons post something crossed my mind (ouch). Computers have always been seen to go hand in hand with cult and sci-fi television and 13 year old spotty kiddies. But how far is this true!? To what extent do you meet the stereotype?! I can say I dont until you get me talking about MS.
sci-fi is OK now and again, but I'm more into fast italian rally slag motors (Integrale!) and hard house.
I'm not 13. And I don't have spots.
Well I do like Sci-Fi and I do play video games. I do a LAN party like once a year and that's just about it. I can fix my own car, I play football, baseball, and vollyball. I also have friends that love to go out and do stuff. I go to concerts and I party down town (6th street and stuff).
I would say the only geekie thing I do is learn on my own and like what I do. If that makes me a geek then HELL YA! I'm a geek and damn proud of it. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I liked the way every computer tech is supposed to be ugly, or not care about personal hygiene. Sure, most of us don't, but a whole lot of us like to look good.

Partying, drinking, hanging out, and just plain ol' having fun are my main objectives. As well as staying in competition for the best all-around computer with all my friends. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
Damn straight! That pretty much narows it down. Now just add when I'm in a show, people can't believe I'm a computer geek. Then add when I'm at work (in computers), people can't believe I'm an actor. I love it. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">Quote:

No, in many ways I look like a common or garden geek. My hair is long and big (as in, eh, tall...you'd have to see it), I have glasses, I look at the ground a lot, I listen to Punk, I like sci-fi novels, preferably ones over 1,000 pages long and with titles like "Legend of H'Yarognok: Return of The Dark Lord (Book VIII)", I find stuff like

amusing, and I enjoy trash TV sci-fi like...no, it's too embarrasing.

I hear ya Kymera, I'm the only female tech for miles around and people act like their shocked when I walk in.
im a typical one .. care more for my computer then just about other things ... i have a serious case of addiction .. ohh well i guess its better then drugs and things
Ok, I am 29 and I like Sci-Fi. I'd hang my Star Trek models up ifit weren't for my wife saying they look tacky. I have good eye sight, so no glasses. I recently got out of the military, and haven't gotten the desire to grow long hair, but I do have a full head of hair. I am a geek. I was an outcast all through my school days. I went into the military, became an electronics tech and then I specialized in computer systems. I used to play games at my computer with 2-3 bags of chips to tide me over until breakfast or what ever meal time came up next. I love hot tea supersaturated with sugar. I loved Physics and Chemistry in high school. I played the Tuba starting in 9th grade, but had been around the piano since I can remember. Few friends. I preferr to be inside my mouse instead of partying or even going to the beach. I was practicly raised on the beach so maybe that answers that question. If I am not geeky or nerdy enough then look at how I dress. I constantly get yelled at for what weird combinations I send my youngest to daycare in. I don't have a single pocket protector. I think this all confirms that I may somewhat fit the stereotypical geek. Oh, and I don't own a joystick, I own a Flight stick. Geeky enough?
