You know, the feature where you can hook up your laptop up to an external monitor and have basically, a second desktop. I've just started using this at work, and it's so much easier. I can have several things open at once and be able to look at several things at once without having to maximize/minimize, or title open programs. It's so much easier. I've found it to be pretty buggy in Win 98, but it seems to work beautifully in Windows XP. Any other opinions out there?
yeah, we use it alot here at work. We also use the extended desktop on the main system with 2-4 monitors. Works great under win2k
Been using two monitors for a couple years now....
If I did that at home, my wife would call me "a typical MAN" :D

I used to..but opengl doesn't work at all in it..and in order to play a game you have to disable one of the monitors completely. And it became a pain. That was win2kpro, i dont know how xp handles it, but i would always lose the position of my secondary monitor and have to resize it and blahblah when I wanted to reactivate it. So I went out and bought this 22" montrosity, and my little imac. That way multitasking is much more efficient.

Wow, you got your Imac to work right :D
I'm too cheap to by another monitor, so I just use <a href="http://www.fatfreesoft.com/2desk.html" target="_blank">this</a>

I've used it before back at Texas Instruments when I had massive physical desktop space to work with. It's kinda cool actually. It just hogs up so much desktop space having two monitors. One day, if I can have a mobo with 2 agp slots, and 2 flat space saving 19"+ monitors, then I might just think about doing that again. But for now I guess I'm stuck with my mini 17" monitor. :D
Also, litestep which i use, has 4 virtual desktops.
Those of us with nVidia cards can download the latest detnators and have two virtual desktops.
I've also got a spare PCI video card and a spare monitor I could try this on, but I'm too damn lazy to hook them up. And not enough desk space.
When I got my new vid card a few months ago, I wanted to try out the dual mon. feature, so I did. It was really cool and I would have kept using it with 2 monitors, but my desk is so small that I didn't have room for both of them.

That's why it's great for use with a laptop and just one external monitor. :-) And my company actually THOUGHT I was going to give up my 19" monitor when they gave me the lappy.... :D :D
I used to have it set up that way...but it takes too much room on my desk :(
