New server
Finally got my new server up and running. She's got dual thunderbird 1.2 ghz CPUs and a gig o' RAM. I also got redundant, hot-swappable 500W power supplies.
Boots win2k adv server from a cold start to login box in roughly 30 seconds. Woohaa!!

Right now I have it running SQL queries in a mysql database that has about 200,000 records. It returns results in about a second. Pretty darn fast in you ask me :)
Right now I have a 20 gig ATA100 7200 RPM drive in it for the OS and a 40 gig of the same specs for storage, etc. I'm kinda hung up on whether or not to go SCSI. I'm really not impressed by the SCSI drives I have already, and they're so damn expensive for even little tiny ones.
For now, since I'm not doing any filesharing, I think I'm gonna stick with IDE. Later this year, this machine will become our main ISA server, and I may consider getting a SCSI disk to hold the URL cache then.

Mine takes more then 30 seconds to bring up too but it doesnt take up that much room. Its only a 486 dx2 8megs and running win3.1 not that loud either there are no fans in it. But once the hard drive crash and made some loud screching noise.

Very nice Milenko, but Sowulo is right, add a big fake patch panel to make it look flashier! :D

You sure that screeching noise wasn't your apps trying to load?
