Bowling Help

We have got a staff bowling night out on Saturday, You all know the sort of stuff lots of drink, some bowling with even more drink and finish the night in a good club.

Heres the problem, The teams have been decided by drawing names out of a box, Now the team I've ended up in looks OK to start with. 3 of us can say we are good at bowling but 2 other people in our team are REALLY bad [Granted the dont play much bowling] . The other team have 5 consistant players. So you see we are a loss already in the game. 3 of us [if the other 2 keep to the same form] might be able to win the game, but it will be hard going.

What I need is any bowling tips to enhance my game or even get the bad players playing a bit better. OK this might sound a bit self centered going out to win, But the other team have already claimed victory in this game and making life a nigthmare at work.

So for sake of underdogs everywhere, GIVE ME ADVICE

Not the easiest thing to advise on in a forum. If you are loosing badly you could always resort to *Gamesmanship*. Subtle things like Super Glue in the finger holes, walking in front as they start to bowl, coughing loudly as the are about to release the bowl. When your guys go to bowl, have them swing the ball underneth their shoulder and release their ball so that their thumb is sticking up (like a thumbs up, but with your hand open). This should make a natural spin on the ball so that it will go straight. With that in mind you have them step two marks of the center and aim side of the head pin. <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

Have lots of drinks and you should be spectacular. Advise your teammates to also partake in a lot of drinking . This should releive some of the pressure and anxiety and they will also bowl like Pros. I used to bowl professionally quite some time ago....At this late stage I can only give you one tip that will mean anything.....

Been to a couple of bowling nights with my work buds in the past and had a scream. Just get lots of wobble juice down your neck and enjoy yourself. Don't take it too seriously! <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

Ask yourself one question: Is it necessary to win?

If you look at it in the right light, and this is nothing personal against bowlers, but couldn't you just drink a lot and get crazy and then say (to your opponents) "c'mon guys, it's freakin' bowling for cripes sake, how important is this?" and then laugh obnoxiously. If they take it so seriously that the company is upset about poor bowling, you should get paid for it.

Leave chicken in your grabage can for a week with twelve pairs of cotton socks. Then on bowling night sneak the socks in their bowling sacks. All of their bowling stuff will reak, if your lucky try and nail their shirts too. That reminds me, Bracius, I'm not going to be able to make our bowling night next Tuesday like I said I would. :blecch:

People who suck at bowling should concentrate on where the ball hits the pins instead of power/curve/etc.

Assuming they're right-handed:

Swing the ball straight. Most newbies will swing the ball inward or outward. You want it to go straight under your shoulder.

When you release the ball, your right shoulder should be on the lane mark that's just to the right of the center (so your feet will be left of center).

You should aim at the triangular mark in the lane, not the pins. Try to get the ball to roll over the mark just to the right of the center mark.

Be cool and relax. Accuracy is far far far more important than speed or power or curving the ball.

This one is easy...get the other team drunk.

But seriously, just have a good time and when they go to jab you about winning, just say "are you actually bragging about being a good bowler? You know the difference between you and I? While you were practicing your bowling swing, I was out getting laid."

your team should just skip the bowling and use the money for drinks, and when the other team shows up just tell them that your team would have won anyway, so you decided to celebrate the win early. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
