I'm having trouble deciding what to buy my mother for Xmas. I want to spend a few hundred.
No jewelry ideals please...
I was going to buy her a Toshiba DVD/MP3 w/Progressive Scan for her house. I would also include and pair of shelf speakers $125 or so for extra sound.
Or an Espresso machine but their like $400 - $600…ouch.
I need ideals people! <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
DVD players seem to be the "in" thing this year. I know I bought my parents a DVD/VCR combo (cost $300) and a bunch of my friends are getting their parents/dad/mom a DVD player as well.
Remodel her bathroom :) I would say home stereo would definately be nice if she's into that. Get her an IMac. You could probably pick those up for about $60 nowadays :D

Funny thing, I bought my mom a new DVD Player, A Toshiba for about $149 and hooked it up to her executive/mini stereo. Her accoustics are bad so having any small speakers make sound better. My mom is really behind the times. She got burned on the whole Beta/VHS war. She bought Beta cause they were better quality. So we all know how that turned out. Well for about 4 years, since I bought a Sony DVD, I've been trying to convince her to buy one. But she had it in her mind that VHS was here to stay and that DVD was a fad!! LOLOLOLOL She is a big old movie fan, Cary Grant, Hepburn, etc...so I explained that with proper care the DVD will last far longer than VHS, and in a few years DVD-RWs will be ine-expensive for her..I think the real push for her was that I told her I'd buy her one! So far she loves it....Or mebbe it had something to do with the VideoCD I made of my newborn on his 1 month "birthday" (She's in Rancho Cordova/Sacramento and I am in SF).

My Mom loves it her Games and graphics have never run so good,
Now all I need to do is get her a new monitor and speakers

Not the good ones, she like the old school strategy games, like Risk and Battleship type stuff..
I just got back home from doing some xmas shopping. Got my mommy a new dinnerware set ($71.00 on sale) and my dad a new CDRW (generic brand, $84.00).

Now I did get the wife the new VCR / DVD / Big Screen HDTV / Plus Home theater sound systems she wanted, Plus a new Dinning Set (Table, Side Board?, Chairs ect.) In American Maple!
