Currently, one is unable to download ANYTHING from Audiogalaxy.
Is it dead? Probably, but I hope not.

More reason to justify to your boss why you have to expense a Windrivers subsription. Windrivers is the best resource for outdated drivers.
(I get comped for this right? :D )
Boo hoo.. another file sharing network down the drain.
Ever considered buying stuff instead?

Hrmm... might have come off a bit harsh, but what really, really irritates me, are these kids that just assume they should be given stuff. Free music, free software, to be spoonfed entertainment by free websites.
I hear it all day, every day, and I guess its just getting really old...
It seems to be down, but definetily not dead yet. Here's the article:
AudioGalaxy
Try Downloading WinMX from downloadz.com, it's the next best thing. :D
On a side note, the most recent version of the AG satellite (0.609) is stuffed with spyware.
I ran Ad-aware after the install and found tons of Gator files. Apart from a note during installation telling you that third-party software is bundled with it you have no choice as to installation of this crap or not. Once Ad-aware did its stuff the satellite still runs fine.
Be wary!
Dangit! I've used Audiogalaxy since Napster shut down. I thought AG was much better then Napster anyway.
I managed to borrow somewhere between 30-45 full albums from AG. I hope something else will come out to match or better AG.
Screw buying music that you don't listen to. That's why I refuse to spend $15-20 for a cd. That's insane! How do they expect the consumer to buy stuff that they haven't even heard? I only want to pay for the songs I like and not the ones that get cramed on the cd to make it seem like you're getting more music for the money.
my 2c

A little harsh? An understatement.

If you're really looking for more obscure music, WinMX is the best, without that Gator crap. Kazaa Lite is a hacked version of Kazaa without the spyware. It's pretty ok too.
How long before this thread gets shut down...
Audiogalaxy was about my best source for indie music and bands no longer in circulation. They were my only source for the OST of "The Final Countdown" since my record died years ago...
Now with AG presumably gone, and its user base, and with the apparent imminent demise of internet radio, we will have corporate radio for all, all Britney and In Sync, all the time, hours and hours of the same bland music, unhampered by talent. CLEARCHANNEL UBER ALLES!
For the record, I DO spend a tidy sum every month on new music. I DL interesting bits from P2P services, and if i like enough of a bands new album...*shock* I WILL BUY IT.
The point is, if I can't listen to enough of the album to decide if i'm going to like it, fsuk it, I'm not gonna risk spending my money on ONE good song and 10 of absolute crap.
I buy albums because I want to support the artist(s) and MP3's sound like **** on a good system unless they're encoded above easily tradable sizes on a good encoder at a high BR, and that being the case, why bother...
The whole IP, DMCA, copyright debate has possibly made me even more cynical, or maybe its the general publics apathy towards it all...

Audiogalaxy has always been the Best way to find music. I can remember using the FTP search and dealing with having to upload before you can download, but no other service has ever compared to the amount of music that can be found with Audiogalaxy. I really hope it hasn't shut down for good...
LOL! I'm out of touch. I thought you meant the soundcards/drivers like the ones built into many Compaq boards.
I never use file swapping apps. They just seem to be rife with security holes. I used to get my MP3s from Usenet. By far, IMO, the easiest/best place to download music.
