Not likley! Hahah, at least your trying to be funny.
As much as I hate to say it, the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP game will probably be Pittsburgh hosting Baltimore. And the Ravens aren't going to be happy about being man-handled twice. If that's the case, even with homefield advantage the Steelers have an upfield battle, simply because of history and superstition.
1)Baltimore head coach, Brian Billick is 5-0 in Pittsburgh.
2)Even though the Steelers have completely dominated the stats in both meeting with the Ravens, they final score was 5 points or less, with them losing at home and winning on the road. Home game...ugh...
3)The first Steelers vs. Ravens meeting in Pittsburgh was of course the one that Kris Brown decided to make missing field goals his new trend, only hitting 1 out of 5, effictively handing the game over to the Ravens. He'll have some ghosts to confront if they have to host Balti again.
4) The Ravens entered the playoffs last year as a wildcard, losing the division to the Titans, but then tore through the playoffs, thumped Tennessee in the championship game, then went on to win the Superbowl. I don't think this year's Ravens unit is quite as good as last years, but...
Anyway, that would be the worst case scenario. The only team in the AFC that I believe could really match up well against the Steelers are Baltimore, and that's mainly just because of the mental aspect of the game. The Raiders? Natch. Gannon's great, but against the #1 defense in the NFL, I dont think he can do much. He couldn't last year against Balti. And with next to no rushing defense, the Bus, Z-man, and Kordell could run all over the field, and face next to no opposition.
I still say Rams vs. Steelers in the Bowl.
Of course it doesn't really matter what happens in the playoffs. Nobody is going to beat the Rams. I'm sorry to say this. As much of a 49er diehard as I am, even I have to admit that the Rams are unbeatable. Last night, I watched the Saints play against the Rams about as tough as any team could play against them, and they still got beat. And the Rams thoroughly destroyed the 49ers a couple of weeks ago (although that is partially due to the Niners offense not playing at full potential for whatever reason.) Now, I'm not saying a team can't play against the Rams, they just can't beat em.
Now, I don't want to sound pessimistic by saying all this. I really am hoping the Niners will beat them in the playoffs,... or any team for that matter. But any team vs. the Rams in that loud @$$ dome,... Jeez, I don't even want to think about it.
Lots of teams have area's where they stand out. The Niners have Owens as a great receiver, the Steelers have the Bus as a great running back, and the Packers have an awesome QB in Brett Favre. But how many teams are out there that excel in EVERY area. Kurt Warner? Marshall Faulk? Rams defense? 5 great catchers on the offense (at the very least)? Jeff Wilkins the kicker? I mean, how do you stop this kind of team? Especially in that home field dome of theirs. It's a coaches nightmare. It's like each of the teams in the NFL are a high performance sports cars. But the Rams are a mighty Mac truck, just waiting to crush their opponent. The only way I see to stop the Rams is to keep their offense off the field, and hope that ball control will put some points on the board offensively. And also hope for a couple of big defensive plays. But to outright go head to head with them and win, is impossible IMO.
Anyway, I guess we'll just have to sit back and see how the season plays out and route for each of out favorite teams,.. but at the same time, I'm nervous as hell about watching any of these teams play against the Rams. It makes me cringe every time I watch.
Go Niners!

You don't! All you can do is hope they beat themselves with turnovers and drops. But unlike other teams, they can turn it over 4 times give up 4 touchdowns off the turnovers and still win.
There hasn't been this type of pure domination since the cowboys and 49er's in early - mid 90's. Having said that, I wonder if St Louis is doing the salary cap tampering that both dallas and San Fran were guilty of back then?

In this day and age of salary cap and free agency, you raise a good point. They've been building this dominant team for years now, and it just makes me wonder how they can afford all these premiere players.
As a Rams fan, I would be very disappointed if this were the case. Winners always make good criticism targets.
The Rams are NOT unbeatable. Tampay Bay - F*CKING TAMPA BAY - did it, as well as the Saints did earlier in the year. The Rams can be beat...any team can.

I like the rams too. They are my NFC team.
I do have to wonder about the salary cap thing though because you have one of the best quaterbacks in the NFL, the best running back, two of the top 10 recievers, one of the top offensive lineman, a top 10 middle linebacker and a top 10 defensive end. (Ratings are my assesments and not statistical based)
Most everyone is seemingly under contract (am I wrong about this?) and you are still under the salary cap? I know all of the above mentioned players are also making pretty close to open market value for their positions (No one has taken a major pay cut to play in St Louis have they?.) I just don't know how you crunch those numbers and still come in under the cap.
If running on all cylinders, With everyone on the same page. the 49er's should be able to smoke the
Lams! But the Defense is packed with 2nd year players, And the Offence is still getting it together, So there is still a chance for the NINERS this year in the playoffs!
But Next Year The West will belong to the 49er's once again!! as they are 2.5 million under the cap! and the Lams are Less then two hundred thousand under.
Note: I don't know where the top 10 thing came from? This is the NFL you are either All Pro or not! Either the Best or one of the Best!
Either Jerry Rice (the Best ever) or (one of the best ever) Paul Warfield, Lynn Swan,
Fred Blidnacaugh, Lance Alworth, Gene Washington,
ECT.
Any way there is still a chance!
GO NINERS ! 49er's Forever!

I'm not a die hard Rams fan that's for sure but I do like them mainly because their from my state of Missouri. Besides the Rams are a completely different team since Cleveland.
We have 2 NFL and 2 MLB teams here in my state. I'll support them to the end. KC Royals and KC Chiefs I would shed blood for and I've been a fan forever. STL Cardinals and STL Rams I've always liked too. Not just because they are the best team in the NFL but because I can and that's the way it is.
So you’re telling me that if a new team moves to my state then I can't support them?
..And No, I don't remember 79 I was only 2! Don't hate the Rams because they stopped on the Niner’s! The Westside needs to adapt to the Heartland instead of hating on the fait of the Rams... :D

Amen brutha. And yes, there's definately a chance in the playoffs. I'm not trying to say it's impossible, it's just going to be very hard to do. Let's just hope Mooch comes up with a kick @$$ plan, because we will face the lams again. I'm sure of it. Go Niners! Through the playoffs on the road to Super Bowl glory!
