That would all depend on your method of conducting business.
Internet sales? Mail order?
Laws and regulations differ according to your business profile.
It would be internet sales
I'm not familiar with the specifics, but if you're taking in credit card/money order sales your operations shouldn't be too much different.
You may want to familiarize yourself with Canadian regulations in regards to customer protection.
i guess what i was really thinking about was the exporting computer products. Do canadian get hit with some type a tax with they buy from the USA. I know not products say "can not be used outside of the US and canada"
The notices you see printed on boxed software saying "only for use in the USA and Canada" has to do with the US Government's embargos on encryption with respect to foreign countries.
As far as doing business across the border, the biggest thing you will have to deal with is customs. Everything you ship to Canada will have to have customs forms filled out and a green sticker with the description of the contents and a declared value. A customs fee may be imposed on your customer when the package is delivered to them depending on what it is and how much its worth (so much for Free Trade). You should post a notice on your ordering page stating that "package recipient is responsible for all customs fees and duties" so it's not a complete surprise!
Courier companies like FedEx and UPS operate in Canada as well as the US, and they are experts at dealing with the customs crap. Check their websites or call them for tips and info.
Thanx for the info guys. Since we will probably be using UPS for most of the shipping, that's a great idea. I just don't want to be selling a GeForce 4 and having it cost the Canadian consumer twice the price. Then it is not worth it for them or us.
