MOM needs new laptop
mommy is getting new job that will pay for a new lappy plus docking station and a multi-purpose (scan/fax/print) machine.
However, she don't want to go overboard and cost them too much cash, and lucky 'ol me gets the privilige of helping her select a decent laptop.
Tonite I'm just gonna take her to a CompUSA or somthing and get a new model with warrantys and stuff. What's a good lappy for mom, who needs good interent access and space and speed.
I'm thinking that a Thinkpad might be more than she wants to spend.
Any prefereces????

I personnally like the Toshibas. They now have the Touch pad style mouse instead of the "little eraser tip" style. Although I hear that there are some hear that love their Sony's eh JMM :D :D :D

I would personally go with a dell laptop with a burner...

I have to agree with Venom. I have worked on the Toshiba's and the Thinkpads. Toshiba, I wouldnt even consider. Thinkpads are nice, but I've had TOO many hardware failures.
I have a Dell and a few others at work other than mine. Rock solid and built tougher than the Thinkpads too.

Oh yeah, I just LOVE my sony! Never any bad fan, faulty HDD, or steaming-hot PC Card problems! ;)

Dell is definately that way to go. I have 25 of em where I work and we never have problems. The Inspiron series are priced very nicely for mid-range if that's what yer looking for.

Always had good luck with Toshiba's, those or Dell's would be my preference.

I can't vouch for all Fujitsus, but I am so in love with mine. No problems with it yet. One of my favorite perks...that built-in infrared receiver and the wireless infrared mouse. [drool]
