I'd go with the solid luggage packs, depends on the bike you end up getting of course, but I would feel a damn sight more secure about the solid packs.
I'll be getting the Honda VTR250.

I'm just thinking that a good water proof soft luggage would be more secure, in the sense that you can easily take it with you in doors...

one thing to remember too, is to always wear a good mouth-guard when you are riding. This way, you can be easily identified from dental records.
