True test....

Well today I'm being tested of my computer knowledge. My glasses broke and because I haven't a spare, I'm working almost blind. All I have to do is switch out this power supply.

1. Unplug the computer. (unpluggs a cord)
2. Unscrew power supply. AAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH... dang that hurts!!!!!!!!! <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">

I managed to break my glasses on Saturday where the frame meets the earpeice, and right now, they're being welded back together. So... I sitting with my frace about a foot away from the monitor to see what the heck I'm typing. By the time I get my glasses back, I'll really be blind. <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0">

I took them to a jeweler to have them fixed and as soon as I get back to work, my boss asked me to go to a branch to work on a computer. I told him that I have a restriction on my license, so I didn't think it would be a good idea for me to drive there. This is going to be a loooong day. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

What's wrong with you, sending your glasses to the jewelers because the earpiece broke? Find a paper clip and perform emergency surgery. WHat kind of nerd/geek are you? That's like 1st grade nerd education.

Well I just got them back!!! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

It wasn't just the part that goes over my ear. It was the entire piece of metal that goes from the frame to my ear. Plus, my frames are a little different from regular frames. Here is a pic of the corner that was repaired. If the pic doesn't show, keep hitting refresh. It should work eventually.

I do. Astigmatism with a hint of myopia.

Started wearing glasses at 14. Both eyes are astigmatized so contacts and Laser surgery are out. <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0"> First time I put on my glasses it was like holy cheese Batman this is what the world looks like. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Glasses since I was 10 but at least the prescription has never changed....(no bottle bottoms....) <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

Glasses for last 10 years - plus a bad case of photophobia (light sensitivity). It blows peoples mind when I walk into a dim room with my dark glasses on (think limo tint) and can still see fine! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

My compliments to the person who fixed your glasses.......that is a damn tough piece of silver soldering......take it from someone who has a tig or ox/aceteleyne torch in his hand at least 4 hours a day

Usta have glasses, but went in for the RK surgery 'bout 8 years ago & it was a "life event". My vision B-4 was 20-400 (just could see the "Big E") but now I am 20-20!!!!

If you ever consider having this done, DON'T PRICE SHOP THIS ONE!!! Get references.

I do wear them, short sighted - can only see close up, but I don't like contacts so stuck with these "jam jar's in a frame" (just kidding, not that bad).

However, there is a new laser surgery out that claims it can give you better than 20:20 vision (depending on how bad you are in the first place). My friend is considering it (he is registered blind, and has a driving license).

I've thought alot about having the surgery....I wore my old contacts yesterday to see what it would be like (sort of). With glasses I can see fine at distance but have to take them off for close-up work. With contacts (and, after surgery so my eye doctor tells me) I can see fine at distance but can't see crap up close. So my options seem to be wear glasses and take them off when I need to see up close, or get the surgery and carry reading glasses for close-up work. I tried bifocals a couple years ago with very bad results.....I'd be real curious to hear from others who have had the surgery.....
