Pros: It works, but only in the 9x kernel.
Cons: It will totally crash a Win2k/XP system, and Intel doesn't want you to know that bit.
DO NOT install it, it's not worth the hassles.
Extensive article on this somewhere at <a href="http://www.lockergnome.com" target="_blank">www.lockergnome.com</a>
Also, if your using the built-in Roxio for burning CD's, I've seen it take out the drive letter option in the Send To menu.
I've seen no such problems using it with W2K or XP. (I've got it running on my own XP Pro box right now) Running the accelerator ironed out some DMA problems I was having with a Toshiba 16X DVD drive as well as improved my Roxio CD Copier burning directly from the DVD to my Yamaha burner.

It doesn't crash 2k/XP based systems. We have it running on 500+ such systems at work with our latest 2K based disk image. No issues what so ever. I'm running it on XP as we speak and haven't had any difficulties.
Please tell us what this Intel Application Accelerator does and where we could find it.
Is it an optomizer for Intel CPUs running Windows?
The Intel Application Accelerator is a set of enhanced bus mastering ATA drivers for Windows based OS's. I'm not sure of all the technical details on how it works but it does a great job of speeding up hard drive access. You can find out more info and download it here.
