Upgrade to win xp???
I have just recently upgraded my computer. I have an Asus A7N266E nvidia motherboard. An AMD 1800XP processor with 2 256 Megs of DDR (total of 512). I am currently running WinMe. I have begun to notice some problems of running out of resources and I am stumped. I figured with as much processor and ram as i have i should not see that problem. I actually have the problem much more often now then before. My question is will WinXP help or make it worse? How stable is xp overall? Should I stick to WinME? Any other fixes for the resource problems?

Win ME and memory management again - ME is possibly the worst system for memory management of any os anywhere ever.
Win XP although is full of "bloatware", "spyware" and lots of eye candy does actually manage memory very well.
However - do NOT upgrade from ME, do a clean install of XP you will get a much healthier system. ALSO before you upgrade, check www.microsoft.com/hcl to make sure all your hardware is compatible.
If you want to make extra sure, before you format put the XP disk in and it will give you an option to check the system for compatiblity - this includes software, so you know what you are going to be up against.
If you are worried about the spyware in xp - then get antispy.exe - excellent freeware programme for turning off all those nice backdoors. Also get unpnp.exe from Gibson.
Final tip, as soon as XP is installed, hit the windows update button and download ALL the security fixes.

I agree with Noonoo on this.
I would never upgrade WinMe to WinXP, as I would never install WinMe on one of my machines.
XP is better for lots of reasons. Stability, performance etc.
If you finally decided to go for XP, check this site also: http://www.tweakxp.com/tweakxp
It has lots of useful tweaking and security utilities which I personally find priceless.
Good luck!
