Product activation
Well I decided to run my XP home on my spare computer since I removed it from the system that has a raid 0 set up, I switched that one to Win 98
I get XP installed, go to activate it and I am told that I have used up the maximum amount of actviations
Do I get to phone Microsoft to reactivate just because I decide to run it on my other system instead of my main system , I will only have one copy running since my main system is running Win 98 and my file back up system is running Win ME
I paid for the use of WIn XP and I can't use it since the promise raid drivers and the creative software are not compatible
I may just mail the XP package back and demand a refund if they don't let me reactivate Win XP
These punitive measures taken by M$ hurt the customer not the pirate

Have you actually called MS?

While xp doesnt come with the promise drivers included you can copy the promise drivers to a floppy from the mobo cd and use that to install them through the setup utility of xp.
Just hit f5 when prompted to install 3rd party scsi drivers.

MS should help you out. My buddy, who changes his system every month, has had to call three times and they gave him new activation codes every time.

I called M$ and I got to type the 42 digit code with one finger while I held the phone, They wre really good about it as well
I was wondering if I could use ghost to make a backup copy of the OS just in case the system goes belly up
Oh I did make a floppy with the XP drivers for my promise controller, all went well until I installed the new drivers from Creative's website, I got a black screen for five minutes while booting up
XP runs great on my spare system so it will stay there, thanks all for the help :)
