IDE Cable !
I was wondering, after you have plugged the IDE cable into the motherboard, you have the two connectors free, one in the middle and one on the end. MY QUESTION: Wich conector is concidered the FIRST one? eg. C Drive.
The Reason I ask is because I have 2 hard drives, and I want to make sure the larger one is FIRST, or C Drive. :(

The first one (C:) is the one set as Master and the second one is the one set as Slave. No matter the IDE edge you connect them, they work.

with jumper settings on the drives I`d agree, but would`nt its positon matter with cable select?

Yes it would but most manufacturers set their drives' jumpers to Master or Single by default. I've always found CS to be a nightmare, especially with ATA100 Mobos for some reason, so I avoid it like the plague
As long as the jumpers are set on each drive, one as master, one as slave, don't worry about the cable positioning.
CD ;)

I never use CS (Cable Select).

Well I just added a second 30 gig to my system , I always put the master on the end of the cable , then the slave goes on the middle connector
Just make sure your hard drives jumpers are set as master or slave
I would not use CS , Unless you are stuck with a Compaq
