Hi clever folks.
I'm trying to produce some pages but have gotten stuck on producing the graphics I want. I can draw on paper using a pencil but can't seem to manage the same thing with a mouse.
Can anyone recommend some graphics progs, with tutorials, that can show mehow to draw on the computer, as the techniques seem completely different. I might even be able to find a class running somewhere. Currently using Paintshop Pro 7.

Draw what you want, then scan it on high DPI as black and white document, then use Adobe Photoshop to clean it up and save as a web format (jpg, gif, png, tif)
If you want to skip the paper and pencil part, you'll need a tablet with a stylus (AKA pen) to get the results you would from paper and pencil. It's pretty hard to mimic those motions with a mouse.
You might check out <a href="http://www.gameart.com" target="_blank">www.gameart.com</a> (some hokey graphics but some are cool) and check out the spotlight section; sometimes they have nice tutorials and walkthroughs on how they made a certain image. Or <a href="http://www.renderosity.com" target="_blank">www.renderosity.com</a> (AWESOME site). Renderosity has tutorials and forums on pretty much any graphics app, 2d or 3d. I strongly suggest getting a Wacom graphics tablet. They'll make your life a whole lot easier. I just found out they have the Intuos 2 now, can't wait to get one(I use an Intuos 9x12).
Thanx for help guys. It looks as if I'm going to have to spend some money and try a graphics tablet and better graphics progs. It's certainly given me some ideas for trying something i have not seen done anywhere else on the net. By the time I've done it, it will probably be everywhere!

I like drawing by hand with a pencil and paper and scanning my drawings in. You can even have fun with your drawings by importing them into Flash and breaking them into a vector format and animating them. Here's one that I did:

(If your sound card is on, and you click on each of the faces, they make a funny sound,.. haha) :D
I'd recommend a tablet on this...
I got myself a graphire 2 after ages of using a mouse and it comes into its own when I'm touching up images or sketching...
Scanning in sketches is all well and good but unless you can master very fine mouse control you'll be better with a tablet..
Wish I could afford one of those A4 Intuos ones...

I've found that the tablet is almost as hard to use as a mouse. Scanning in drawings is about the best thing I ever discovered. There's so many things you can do with a pencil and paper that can't be done with a mouse or a tablet. And if you know what you're doing with PhotoShop, then it's a breeze to touch them up. Just bust out the ol' pen tool to make detailed selections and masks for editing or adding color. Anyway, that's just my own preference. Everyone has there own unique way of doing things. :)
