Floppy drive runs intermittently

Floppy drive runs intermittently in desktop and sign in mode. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening in Windows Me???

Do you have antivirus software running? If so uncheck the floppy drive - its probably the scanner trying to see if there is a virus on the floppy drive.

Also clear the recent documents in the start menu.
