win xp pro locks up with Speedstream 3061 dsl modem

i installed my Speedstream 3061 dsl modem with the latest drivers from their web site (www.efficient.com)
it worked liked a charm the minitue i restarted
I connected well then ..... with 3 mins
win xp froze i had to hard reboot (no ctrl-alt-del) didnt work
I tried several times physically removing the card change the slot etc
even took out my regular modem and network card
still locks up
...........................
I tried it in my win2k box no major problems
I noticed just seconds before it froze it said (network unplugged)
I need some advice all the official web site offers is just the new download
any advice would be appreciated

you need to boot into safemode to get rid of the bad driver. Install the 2k driver that came on the cd. If you don't have said cd, then download the 2k driver.

is this advice for xp or 2k
its working ok in 2k
