Install tweakui ver. 2.00.0.0 fro the microsoft site. go to the part on logon and you can disable it.

cheers for the advice, dont suppose you got a link for the tweak?
-
Start run regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail
Double-click MessageExpiryDays set the value to 0, then click OK.
If that key does not exist create it - right click new key UnreadMail then right click the UnreadMail new DWORD MessageExpiryDays - it will automatically be set to 0.
OK that
Logoff and back on again - should be good.
Or get PowerToys which include tweakui here
Good Luck!

i got to the registry bit u told me about, but i couldnt find message expiry days, all there is is (default) under name and then under type REG_SZ and under data is value not set??
is that the one u mean?
i clicked on each account listed under unread mail but i couldnt see anything called message expiry days under there either

If that key doesn't exist, you have to create it.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
\CurrentVersion
is the place where you create the sub key UnreadMail
here is the Microsoft article about it
