Greetings,
I am running a tri boot with Win XP, Mandrake, and Win 98. Recently 98 became FUBAR and needs a reinstall. My question is can I do this without rewriting the MBR and having to reinstall XP and Drake?
Thanks

I would think that if your specific as to what partition your going to do a re-install of Win98 to, you'll be fine.
Unfortunately, not without some headache. I've got a similar box, running Win2k, Win98 and Redhat. When you install an OS you're writing to the MBR, which overwrites what you had previously. I know there must be a way to either copy the MBR to floppy or perhaps just copy your boot.ini file and restore that when you're done (or both) but since I keep all my data and drivers backed up to CD (and because I'm mentally challenged) I just reload all three OS's.
How about slapping something like System Commander on your PC?
You could access all your partitions independantly with it.
I've used a previous version and I loved it. It's even better now. ;)
