New car ideas

Well, with the wedding coming up soon its time to save some money and get a new car. Currently we are running 2 cars on the road and most of the time we are only using one of them. I cant even remember the last time both cars were used at the same time.

Current cars = Mine = Peugot 206 1.6 Quicksilver 2 years old.
Smurfette = Renault Clio 1.4 3 years old
Both are 3 door models

We have been thinking of getting rid of one of the above cars, but cant decide which one. Just to get round this we are thinking about trading them both in against a new car. Advanteged of doing this would be to get a bigger model and not spend all that much money on changing them.

I've been thinking about getting the Honda Civic 1.6i 5 door but unsure about the new style. Anyone got any reviews on a owners point of view or got aqny other ideas what car we should get.

Depends - I would go for a 4/5 door, because its a damn pain trying to get the baby in the baby seat in the back on a "coupe" model.

Personally I hate "small cars" that includes the sports variety! Having said that I am quite impressed with the A class merc mother has bought, it feels tiny, but at least sitting in the back your knees are not up around your ears and pressed into the drivers back!

mmm Peugot 406 Coupe........damn brits are lucky...

If you're looking for a model which could suite the lifestyle of a young family and still has moderately good looks, the Mazda Protegé 5 comes to mind.

My brother dumped his Civic SI for that car and prefers it's power and handling.

I'm unsure if that model is available in your parts though.

Do you have the Accords over there? I have had three of them. My mother has a Civic and is very happy with it. Those cars tend to last a good long time. My 86 Accord never had any problems until I rammed it into the side of an old Buick at about 65mph, and none of my passengers were seriously injured.(even the one not wearing a seatbelt) I got about 200000 miles out of that car before I wrecked it. My 87 Accord never had a major problem, except the brake calipers and cylnders but I am hard on cars. I hit a deer and a tree in this one, but it didn't dent it up too bad. I let someone borrow that car once and he drove the thing into a stream.(good thing we could pull it out) I got about 250000 miles on that one until I let some a--hole drive my drunk self home from the bar and he thought it would be fun to go 100 mph and shift the car out of overdrive and floor the accelerator. The damn transmission never recovered. I currently have a 91 accord waggon. I have about 150000 miles on this one without any non maintnance repair. I have done numerous other horrible things in these cars that I probably shouldn't list here.

If I can keep one of these cars running for 250000 miles the way I treat them, they have to be a good car. Go with the Civic or Accord.

i don't know if a contor would be too big for you..
but my uncle has one and loves it...

but why are you wasting your time on theses non-challant vehicles...what happened to your austin martin db-7?

another good idea if it's in your budget audi a4...

Euro's drive some small @$$ cars. Might I suggest a Ford Excursion or Cadillac Escalade.

Must be a 5 door car with a solid engine but still has good control and power when required. Damm maybe I shoud ask them to but 2 more doors on my Pug.

Wipe clean leather seats would also be handy :D

dunno anything about small cars, do you guys have hyundi cars overe there, they seem to be popular here in AU, i myself drive a large car by euro standards

I'm looking at buying a 91 model Nissan NX right at this moment..

i'd get myself a chrysler sebring, convertible. drove a hire car while in RI , it was brilliant. the only drawback is we dont get enough sun to warrant it...all rain and cold !!

Those Hyundai cars are junk, the Kia's are about the same. The ones I see in the junk yard are a lot newer than most cars in there. They seem to die an early death.
