Monitor cable
How difficult is it to replace the cable for a monitor?
The reason for the question is I just bought a new monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 955DF) and the cable is about 6 inches too short for my setup. Btw – decent monitor for the money (except the short cable).
I have a non-working monitor (NEC Acusync 19) and I was thinking I could use that cable.
I realize this will probably void the warranty, but I really don’t want to change the layout/configuration of my setup.
TIA

Just go to radio shack and get a monitor extension cable

Yeah, what he said...
They aren't all that hard to replace, but the connection on the inside of the monitor is very likely to be different from the spare one that you have. Some monitors just have one plug on the "inside end" of the cord, while most newer monitors are split into two separate connectors, one that goes to the main board and one that goes to the card on the back of the CRT.
In short, buy an extension like RD suggested.
