I don't know for sure but it seems that there will be backword compability.
This is the logical thing to do.
Or else - no one will buy the new Ghost.

Yes, Ghost is backward compatible. However, some features available in the newer version of Ghost may not be available when restoring an image created by an older version. For instance, Norton Ghost Explorer in Ghost 6.0.3 will not allow you to add files to images created in prior versions of Ghost.
