regedit laptop sound hack?
I have a CBT that plays asf files. The sound is awful low on my laptop (running XP) with the volume maxed in every possible place. I need to know what my options are for increasing the output to the sound chipset (ess 1988) through a driver or registry hack. I figure there has to be an option out there. How do laptop manufacturers limit volume to speakers so they dont blow? Probably through a driver right>?
Any ideas? I've got regedit open now and I'm looking for possible keys...

The power to the internal speakers are limited through the hardware inside the laptop (amplifier). Most laptop speakers are low quality anyway, since they are very small and there is no room for a decent driver. Most laptop owners either use headphones or external speakers, either of which can be externally amplified.
