You can't really do it this way around ... The USB device 'sends' its setup to the o/s ... The usb setup info lives in the device either in a chip or if you are really lucky an eeprom that you can reprogram very much like firmware in a CD.
Mmmm so its still a 'controller' issue ?
The quote Noo gives leads me to think that this board doesn't have a phillips usb controller on it, but something else ?
XP (& presummably 2000) only have 'native' support for a particular brand of usb 2.0 controllers made by phillips .... there are also 'clone' chips made by various folks which purport to be the same .... these have exactly the same .inf file names but varying contents ... hence the warning ! To sort it out you'd have to, disable all usb controllers in bios, dig about find all the driver files, delete them, re-enable usb, & replace the driver files with the right ones, ... Asus are of the opinion that a re-install would be quicker !
Both 'issues' look like they'll be solved when you get this right ...
