I've noticed there aren't that many repeaters for wireless networking. I'm wondering, if 802.11b and 802.11g work on the same frequency, will a repeater for 802.11b work on an 802.11g network? and if so, will i lose the extra bandwidth i get with 11g? i suppose i probably would.
From what I've read they work on the same frequency but, I'd plan on the vendor charging a big firmware upgrade cost. ...same frequency doens't mean same protocol etc...Quote:

g is cross platform compatible with a+b equiptment, so yes, b equiptment will work on a g network, but not on an a network.
i wish they had better names for these wireless networks - at least 100baseT is descripive :/
