Unable to Play DVDs

I'm currently unable to play dvds. In the device manager displayed under unknown devices is video controller (vga compatible) -- when i open the properties this message is displayed under device status "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." I've tried to reinstall, but the computer is unable to locate such a resource. Is there any way I could download these driivers online or with a disc? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Well first, welcome to windrivers!! You need to give us some more info. basically, your video card drivers need to be installed. Can you give us the make/model of your PC? Then we can steer you in the right direction? Or if you know the Video card manufacturer and model, give that to us. And what Operating system?

Thanks for replying. Its's a v2Premier, running on Windows XP. How would I find out the Video card manufacturer and model?

you need to go here and look for the model number of your system and download the agp driver and install it. Good luck

I have the same problem. I just can't play any DVDs. I keep getting this error, "The TV Out port of your display card is not
working properly. This copy protected disc can not be played when the TV out function is enabled." I have no idea what it means. Some DVDs have this problems, others do not. I don't even have a TV out connected, just my computer monitor. What should I do? ALl the drivers are updated and working just fine. I have a Nvidia GeForce2 MX 32 MB with lastest drive using PowerDVD 5.0. I even try WMP 9.0 and it still doesn't work.

Right click your desktop in a blank area, select properties, last tab settings, click the advanced button, you will get another window with another set of tabs, one of those controls the tv out function, disable it and it should be fine.

There are a few copy protected dvd's being sold in the USA that will not play on any computer that even has a tv out feature..enabled or not. Just another one of those fine ideas from the folks manufacturing them

It still doesn't work, I can't disable the TV out. There isn't nothing connected to it at all. :( It worked before, why it can't now? :( Stupid computer...

Thats what I meant about copy protected disks..some video cards do not have the utility to turn the tv out on or off, and the dvd's don't care..if tv out is there, the dvd won't work.

What changed from when you said that it worked before to now when it doesn't work?..hardware change? software change?

All I did is update the Nvidia driver for my video card, that's all. My computer now works very smoothly when I did that, not this problem. :( It sucks. Though, a few DVD does work, but the ones I watch regularly doesn't. :(

Then roll back to the previous version that worked. It seems it has given you the tv out function that you don't have.

I know that, but I wouldn't really want to do that. My computer is actaully more stable and run really smoothly with the new drivers. It's sad... :(
