I know it's not an available feature by default, anyone know of a way to mangle the win2k registery or inf files so terminal services can be installed.
i'm sure it's quite futile to try but i just wanted to be sure no one has pulled this off.

Errr ummmm ... what do you mean ? ... I suspect there might be more to this than meets the eye ... you've made me my name again ! - Confus-ed :D .... Windows 2000 Server now includes Terminal Services ...
You can add it or remove it as a windows component ? I thought it was a feature available by default (well I mean its on the cd ? ... isn't it ? - I dunno I haven't got one here to look ... maybe it ain't ?)
sorry i should have been clearler
it's win2kpro running sp4
i'm familiar with the various flavours of 2k/xp/.net and what they are capable of in regards to remote desktop/terminal services, i was wondering if there is a way to break win2kpro to allow the features of win2k svr or winxp
now the obvious question might be why not just use server or vnc or the like, first off vnc looks terible and is not very efficient compared to trm srv and i prefer win2kpro for stability over svr, so i want to combine the stability for 2kpro with the features of 2ksvr
No, it's not possible, terminal services uses the RDP protocol, wich is not in 2k, also, the os has to be built for it.Quote:

I find it odd that you think that 2k pro is more stable then 2k sever, I've run 2k server for years without any stability problems, my box was even more stable then when i WAS running 2k pro. XP includes remote desktop, wich is a run down version of terminal services. (something else to consider)
Your going to need to resort to VNC or a third party client if you wish to do this with 2k pro.
