where can i find the 'favorites.xml' file in windows xp pro?
thanks
I don't have it on my xp pro box...
If you want to export your favourites use the import/export wizard from the file menu in ie... it creates bookmarks.htm (I think) in "my documents"
Last I checked, favorites.xml is MSN's favorites bookmarking system
a quick Google groups search returned this:
Although, shouldn't Windows search find it just fine?Quote:
The path is:
%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application
Data\MSN6\UserData\%UserKey%\favorites.xml
For example:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application
Data\MSN6\UserData\{7D317DF0-A4F7-01C2-0300-000084371A8C}
Attention: UserData from MSN6 folder is a hidden folder, marked as "system".
Remember to go to Explorer's Tools menu, choose Options, go to "Show" tab,
select the "Show hidden files" radio button and uncheck the "Hide system
files" from the Advanced parameters.

What are we up to ? Tranfering favourites to another browser other than IE ? In which case Noo's original suggestion seems good ...
thanks guys ive got the file!!
Actually favorites.xml has little to do with MSN messenger, its intended more for MSN explorer. if you don't have that installed, then that explains a bit doesn't it?;)Quote:

Likely it's for backup or transfer to another system.Quote:

But in any case, did I ever mention that converting MSN favorites to IE or Netscape favorites/bookmarks is a real pain? evidently there is only one solution that I found:
