Major power outage in the NY area

That would be because those that are affected don't have the power to post? :D :D

Well then all is good, you weren't disappointed and it was got out of the way early on :D :D

Apparantly some people can get online because some of the phone services still works. And they are using UPS's for power too.

So it is possible.:wave:

The REAL problem is not that it has affected NY, Pennsylvannia, Ohio, Michigan, and Eastern Canada, but that NOBODY knows what caused it...:(

The electric company was running windows 2000 server. :D

Actually I read that they think it was lightning in niagra falls.

So far all we really know so far is that the Canadians are blaming the Americans and the Americans are blaming the Canadians. :D

Seems like they are effected by the outage...dead link..

We are lucky in maryalnd that we didn't get the outage, since we are on the same grid.

OK, I'll fess up, it was me. I was playing with some new alien technology and whammo! Lights go out. My bad. I unplugged the whosamaframmitz and it's all working again. Sorry about that.






Serriously though, like 12 of our sites went down off the network and since we have such wonderful 7-8 year old equipment (old 3 com boundary routers) at some of our sites they didn't come back up until I called them to powercycle equipment. "No, don't touch that, just unplug the power cord, no, no, not the clickey one that looks like a phone cord, the thick black one that says power and runs to power outlet on the wall, no not the red one with the clickey thing, just pull the power cord out and... No there isn't an on/off switch that's why we need to pull the power cord out..." Yeah, I love my job.

I remember all the worries about the power going off for Y2k guess the folks that bought generators finally got to use them. :D

HAHA as usual here in chicagoland,
Mayor daily is on tv telling people to stock up on batteries,, water and other supplies because he feels we are next~!!!
