This year my wife and I are borrowing my parents 2002 chevy venture to take on vacation to the beach since if we take our car we will have absolutely no room to take anything after we load the baby in the car seat and put the stroller in the trunk. well anyway. . . . we want to take the 20gb mp3 player which has just about every album we own on it. the venture only has a cd player (with no aux input or cd changer input) so the logical solution was just to get a fm modulator and install it in the venture. found one on ebay from a seemingly reputable merchant for 18.99 + 11 shipping. the shipping was a little steep, but most other places like crutchfield wanted $40 for similar units.
I bid and paid for the item on the 13th, and got an email from a 3rd party auction helping site with a message from the seller stating I'd be getting a tracking number shortly when my item shipped. the weekend rolled past and no shipping confirmation email. On monday I sent an email inquiring about the transaction. it went unanswered. On wednesday I sent another one stating that I was starting to get worried because I needed the item by the 27th at the very latest and it absolutely had to go out by the 20th if I was to get it in time shipping UPS from California. That one was returned to me as undeliverable due to a full mailbox. great!
Now I'm really thinking that I'm either getting the product late or not getting it at all, which isn't acceptable, so I go ahead and order the item from crutchfield, and make a pay pal complaint on the basis that the item wasn't shipped in a timely manner and I was unable to engage the seller in communication.
I followed that with negative feedback. . . .well guess what, that got the guys attention. and he/she sends an email saying I didn't read the auction terms that said 7-14 days for delivery. . . . that the item was already shipped (I have my doubts) and I'd be getting negative feedback unless I updated the feedback I left for him/her
I replied with a scathing email last night that basically said If you can't fufill your promise of sending a shipping confirmation email, then don't make that promise, and all that the seller had to do was take a minute or two to personally answer an email and everything would have been fine. And said that if I had to I would detail every step of this transaction on a web page and post follow up feedback with that link so people could see how he/she does business. I haven't heard anything back yet. I'm interested to see if there is a response.
I'm not completely soured on ebay. this is really only the third bad transaction I've had, but it does kind of pi$$ me off. . . . . oh well thanks for letting me rant a bit.
