The war on terrorism...but what about...

An outside look (from Canada) about the American's war on terror.

The war on terrorism...America verses Terrorist

1. America vs. Afghanistan(sp)

2. America vs. Iraq

3. America vs. ????

Who will be next? It appears nobody. Hmm...I wonder what happen to the stream the drove this war train. There are still a lot more countries that are dealing with terrorism. Israel is pounded with terrorism every day. What about the African countries who are plagued with terrorism every minute of there lives. Why isn't American moving tanks in to Palestien(sp) and Israel to take control over these areas?

The UN hahaha... what a joke...abunch of politicians looking for compensation for any bad remark against their country. (France looking at you)...

Well case you hadn't noticed we are still in both Afganistan and Iraq so we are a little busy at the moment...... If you outsiders looking in really want us to move into these other places, start sending your troops for the mop up duty in the current two....

Besides the whole world sees us as a bully now.... we are dammed if we do and dammed ( I know spelling... my way of sensoring ) if we don't. If we do something we are the big bad bully.... if we don't we are neglecting our responsibility as the worlds super power.... Maybe we need to tighten our belts, close our borders and leave everyone else the h3ll alone?

The War on Terrorism is a very touchy subject for most people, whether you're from the US, Canada or another country.

Although I agree that Iraq needed to be cleansed of the inhuman dictator that was running the show, I disagree in the manner it was cleansed. Mr. Bush made himself out to be a bit of a paranoid man when he kept pointing fingers when the elusive WMD could not be found. Syria found themselves at the end of the long arm of the mighty coalition when they were accused of hiding the WMD, even though they were not doing so. Sure, they may be hiding people wanted by the coalition on charges of crimes against humanity, and may be the starting ground for many of the world's terrorists, but it's a far fetched accusation for the WMD argument.

I'm a Canadian of Metis decent who would surely be called a coward for being a Canadian AND French! Why? Not because I agree that something needed to be done, and surely not because I agree with most people's judgments about our mighty leader, but because people have started harboring a hatred of Canadians and French people because of the stand their governments take. Point in case: Freedom Fries? I thought it a little on the childish side to change a food's name because of France's stand on the war. Now US lawmakers want to ensure that the names of the "French named" foods is restored. Why? Because they want money to help repair the damage in Iraq.

Being a country, under the blanket of the UN, I agree that we should all help repair the damage. Hindsight is 20/20 in a case like this. Guess it shouldn't have been said: Stop buying French wine....stop buying French cheese....stop eating French Fries and French Toast.

I'm very sorry if I've offended anyone here, especially if you've boycotted French and Canadian items because of our stand on the War, but we're all entitled to our opinions....right?

Now...time for a group hug!!!

By the way...us "outsiders" are in Afghanistan too. And, according to documents obtained under the freedom of information act, and confirmed by our government....Canadians were also in Iraq during the war. We were apparently part of a work detail "trade".

I would like to hear from anyone who lost a loved one to a terrorist. How do they feel? How do you think the families of the kurdish people feel about them trying to be extinguished? Or how about the thought you could be killed for speaking the opinion you post here, I think that if you were in that country and had no rights you may feel a bit different, I have no idea how I would feel. I think we all take what we have for granted. I am not saying that everything the US does is right, and but I don't see allot of countries picking up guns on the other side. I do wish that we could all get along, but from the dawn of time there has been war. it will never go away and its all penis envy. We all do it even us geeks, you know..my computer is better it has case lights.. etc..


with all that said I would like the thanks Canada for a few years ago they stood and helped us out!! France has help us out a time or two. So you may not fighting with us but its not against us so I love ya.

It doesn't matter. There are no clear enemies so there can be no clear defeat of enemies. This crap is perpetual as long as The Idiot's henchmen and coporations are president. In the meanwhile, Big Business is having a field day printing all their money and we continue to lost our basic rights. :mad:

Yes it is. But I was just answering his question to the best of my knowledge. The French are tired of hearing Americans protest them and so are the Canadians. I'm tired of everyone saying that the us needs to do this if we don't. And shouldn't have done that if we do. I realize the US does many things that I don't agree with. But I get targeted for what my country does no matter what. Just like Sunshine says, you can get looked on in a certain way because of what your government does even if you don't agree...

Now Sunshine, I didn't say no one was helping but we still have a large presence in the area... even the US has a limit of how many troops we can send. We are already involved in the two countries mentioned that are taking a lot of resourses it's a little hard to extend further. If you other countries are wanted something done... go ahead we'll back you..... as much as you backed us...

Yep.

Offending anyone with my post was not the intention, so I appologize if I've done just that.

I totally agree that more people should have taken up arms and helped out the US and GB. But, if the timeline had been a bit different, and a UN approval for War had been given before firing the first shot, things would be considerably different.

What's done is done. We should now all concentrate on fixing Iraq and letting them stand on their own two feet. Until the occupying force is gone, there will continue to be deaths. According to news articles I've read, and programs seen, many of the Iraqi people are happy that the beast is no longer in power. However, until the Iraqi people are in charge of their own oil wells, and full power and water has been restored, many Iraqi's will continue to try to drive out the people there to help them.

The World, as a whole, should now concentrate on helping, not just commenting from a safe distance. Money speaks volumes. I'm just sorry that our government is offering so little funds to aid in the rebuild. Ashamed...I most certainly am. Less than 1 billion dollars...shameful. We've spent more on registering our guns.

1984 is a little late but we now are in a state of perpetual war. We have our Goldsteins(Osama,Saddam). We have our loss of freedoms in the name of the "war effort". We have no real clue as to our success or failures (Bush says the war will be fought in "secret") We have no real event that will ever end the war. We have Big Brother in the form of Poindexter wanting a database of everyone and everything.
I am not some "bleeding heart" liberal but in America we have given up the Bill of Rights. If the terrorists wanted to destroy our "way of life" on 9/11 they may have succeeded.

You'd be surprised at the amount of people who would love to help out our US friends more than we are. The amount of money our government spends on our troups is even more shameful than the amount of money pledged to aid in the Iraqi rebuild.

Our helicopters are crashing at an alarming rate. Our equipment is dated, and our bases are being closed down or relocated. The only people willing to stay in, and face relocation, are career people or those just signing up. Your country can afford to have such a large presence in different countries because your government will spend the monies needed to put you there. Heck, I'd be surpised if the FNC1A1 weapon (a rifle in use in 87 when I was in the Navy Reserve) was not in use anymore. But I'll bet dollars to donuts that it's still being used to train our troops.

I have no problem in now saying that I am truly embarassed and ashamed the Bush came out of my great state.
