as long as the pet looks kick *** i dont care about ethics i would buy it.
i want a rotweller crossed with genes from a lion , bear and speed of a cheeta and i want him to have big red eyes with huge teeth and a chip in its head for i can control it incase it tries to kill me.
I think you would have an army of people ready to remove the chip in the animals head and implant it into yours..... :D
There was a story by Larry Niven quite a few years back....where the scientists genetically spliced a cat with a snake....
Head of a cat, body of a snake, all furry...he termed it a "cattail" for the story's purposes....I'd want one!

Not all of us want to forage around the woods eating nuts and berries.
No problem with genetically modified pets as a concept, but in reality many of these fish will make their way into the wild one way or another. What will be the impact of this man made species on nature?
Humans have been breeding pets for a very long time..... So whats the difference ??? If you breed or genetically engineer a pet ??? One fast ones slow... Look at pit bulls they are agressive because they where bread to fight...

Escape_Driver, it's natural. This is putting a gene from one species to another totally different just for our own benefit. We already got lots of crap from GMO food. Some farmers use GMO seeds, others do not. However, GMO farmers have to pay royalities to the company for using their seeds. However, due to natural causes, non-GMO farmers got GMO seeds (genes) into their crop and now they have to pay the company royalities.

I don't see the difference ... Gene's in us contain bits from just about every living thing on earth.. gene's are interchangeable there set up to be that way... All we are talking about is how the genes get interchanged... Fast - splicing or Slow - breeding... the speed is the only real difference
