Have you been into the soundmax applet in control panel and changed the speaker setup?

What sin would that be?https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
lolz..i forget i wanted some sn a coupla years ago but it was taken..so i've used this for a lot of accounts
yeah this is a new mobo its a D865PERL to be exact...so far i left everything to default settings since this is also a new hard drive...
Go into the soundmax applet and set it to desktop speakers.
yeah its been set to desktop speakers also i tried different speakers on the same board and they didn't work so i'm pretty sure its not the speakers
alright i fixed it...seems like the front audio panel needed two jumpers...which didn't come with the motherboard...the jumpers redirect the sound back to the back audio panel to my speakers...anyway thanks for your help
Just goes to show how we often don't have enough "info" to help.
What front audio panel on an Intel board are we talking about?
Anyway, glad you figured it out.https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2006/04/1.gif
